I started on an easel with charcoal and this technique made me feel limited. However still managed to change the scale of some items and apply different textures for each object including paper.
I then moved onto ink drawing which I prefer with sticks and paintbrushes and working on the floor :)
I like the composition of this and the subtle changes of the rope between pages but keeping certain continuities such as the mirrors but at the same time very abstract. The black lines are the outline of shadow.
This week I did a blind drawing on a presentation on string instruments. I used elements of shading with pencil crayons too.Photo of the week: I took this at half 4 waiting for my train at Bristol Temple Meads. I loved the lighting and the stillness of when I took this. I also like the detail in the empty blocks of apartments. Also the way the lines move and compliment one another by there darkness and colour.
This week we started to plan and film for our assessment next week. We did the film Pulp fiction. We arrived together on wednesday (without a camera) so watched the film and decided what scenes we wanted to do. We then got the camera from Sion Hill, but stupidly left it behind so when it came to 9.00 on Thursday morning we couldn't film straight away!!Back to Dartmouth Avenue got the camera then found out it wasn't even charged... so annoying so we then did more planning, making of signs, setting up scenery while waiting for it to charge! As we were then SO organised we did the filming very quickly a lot of the scenes were done at my flat and then we took a trip to TGIF and did the beginning and last scene there...while enjoying milkshakes :) Because we had lots of preparation time it meant none of us were really stressed just ready to have fun with it!

This week in photo shop we learnt how to make our own panorama so we went outside took several photos then came back in learnt how a panorama (the long way) by creating a new page the right size (multiplying the width by the number of photos) and then adding them on as layers and then cropping and adjusting colors by using levels and color balance. He then showed us how to do it by clicking 'photo merge' under file, automate and it does it better and quicker than you!! This is a cool artist John Law who was an old tutor at the University who did massive panoramas using about 50/60 photos and stitching them together so seamlessly. Here are some attempts of mine (NOT using the automate button!)...they generally got better the more I did!
