Week 3

ART
This week I have been focused on research, discovering two amazing artists Martin Creed and Michael Clark. They are both interiscipliary with all aspects of performing arts, something I am keen on. I Really want to go and see these at the Tate over the Summer as well as the Tracy Emin exhibition at the Hayward Gallery. The telegraph wrote a great review of it.

I did however get to see the exhibition of Peter Blake's Work at the Holbourne Art Museum in Bath this week which was really inspiring. I jotted down lots of notes and sketches AND even got the catalogue! His brain sort of works in the same way as mine does in that he is all about the processes and ideas with collection through a long period of time than an instant final piece. I really love his quirky fascinations with a wide range of subjects from 'Tom Thumb' and the circus to obsessive pop culture of Elvis Presley as well as fine art using found objects. I love his ongoing elephant collection. He gives collecting value and purpose.

Week 2

PRINTMAKING
This week in printmaking I did some more blind drawings of music performances. I combined a bunch of them together as well, like manual photoshop.

1st attempt which I like the most. The print is based on the 'chair technique' for singers. You try and pull it from the lady who took the masterclass and that helps you core strength therefore creating easier clearer high notes.
2nd print, tried to clean up the background...but really blotchy.
Again trying and not really successfully cleaning up the background..so time consuming using tissue-paper! This image is of a harpist and flautist.

Summer Semester

ANIMATION
After a long 36 hours at it, its finished! Pretty pleased the way it turned out. The Elephant scene didn't really go according to plan, but happy with the way the splashes looked- rather realistic, despite being made from foam.

People from the Russian town of Chelyabinsk has been aware of the exact timetable of the “QuickBird” satellite passing over their city and planned to make a massive yellow smiley face in order to commemorate their city in Google Earth. How I feel after finally finishing the animation!!

I also made a dvd of all my films and animations I have done over the last year, except one that I lost! All in preparation to my final assessment here is a screenshot of it.

PRINTMAKING
This week I handed my essay in!! and I made 3 prints, the lesson was really relaxed and after easter had kind of forgotten how to do everything but was really happy with them -it is another blind drawing, of a piano and cello duet, performed a few weeks ago by some music buddies!
I took to much ink off on the right, I quite like the 'faded' look
By not cleaning it 'properly' it left traces of the rubbing, creating texture which I looks quite effective
3rd print dont know why but doesn't have as much detail as the
other 2 looks very simplistic/bare which I like and dislike at the same time

Easter Holidays

ART
Over the last few weeks I have been concentrating and researching for my art essay. I have chosen to base it on ephemeral art and I'm so glad I chose this topic, I found some really great websites which I spent hours on looking at incredible art. My favourite website I found is this Polish site which is a competition site with the most ephemeral Art I have ever seen with work by known and unknown artists, go here. The tricky bit about writing the essay for me is making it structured and easy for other people to understand!! Here are some great works of Art I have found on the above website and others.

ANIMATION
I have decided to do my final film/animation project on a piece of music by Saen-Saints called the Carnival of the animals. There are 13 pieces based on animal each and then a Finale. I have decided to animate the Finale which is approx. 2 minutes of all the animals parading around with a main theme each. Here is someones interpretation of it in plasticine on youtube and an idea of the piece.
Below are some of my images I have sketched out how I want my animals to look like.

My set up: Animals on my left, blue-tack on my right!

PHOTOGRAPHY
Henri Cartier Bresson

My photography project title I chose was The End of The World. I put my perspective on it in that I think that this post modern world is just turning crazy so I have some slightly unlikely locations, costumes from dress up box and make up from I was very young! It is also a silly take on high fashion and how ridiculous can an outfit be. Here are some photos I took. The ones with my self in I used with tripod. Still need 3 more photos...
